Jorge Núñez began his career in graphic journalism in his home country, Mexico.
In 1985, the British agency Reuters offered him a contract, and over the course of seven years, he was assigned to cover social conflicts in Nicaragua, El Salvador, Guatemala, Panama, Venezuela, Haiti, and traveled for special coverage in Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, and Peru.
During this period, he completed specialization courses in color photography in conflict situations at Kodak's headquarters in Rochester, New York.
In 1991, he joined the French photography agency Sipa Press, where he conducted reports in Mexico and Central America.
In 2003, the Spanish news agency Efe entrusted him with organizing its International Graphic Service in Central America and Mexico.

En 1985, la agencia británica Reuters le ofrece un contrfato donde a lo largo de siete años es asignado a la cobertura de conflictos sociales en Nicaragua, El Salvador, Guatemala, Panamá, Venezuela, Haití y viaja para coberturas especiales por Brasil, Argentina, Uruguay y Perú.En este periodo realiza cursos de especialización en fotografía a color en situaciones de conflicto, en la sede de Kodak, en la ciudad de Rochester, Nueva York.En 1991 se une a la agencia de fotografía francesa Sipa Press, donde realiza reportajes en México y América Central.En 2003, la agencia española de noticias EFE le encomienda organizar su Servicio Gráfico Internacional en América Central y México. En 2020 decide separarse de la Agencia Efe para desarrollar proyectos personales.
